hot key: set one which is not your CTRL key, such as F5. Then you will be able to hilite and use CTRL-C to copy and CTRL-V to paste while in paltalk or other applications on your pc without jumping the microphone in the room where you are trying to give the impression that you know what you're doing. When an undesireable mic jumper appears you may be able to use your hot key to steal the mic back from them. That worked better in Win98ME than in XP but its worth a try in those cases when you don't want to keep hearing Tiny Tim sing the same song over and over.

java: Go to java.com and download the latest version and install it. If you don't you will have difficulties in paltalk which you cannot figure out.

adverts & popups: If you don't pay for a colored nickname you will get advertisements. For dial-up users this is a real problem which can cause you to be knocked out of paltalk unexpectedly and can cause your audio to be intermittent most of the time. That's a problem for musicians. To delay, but not eliminate the more undesireable ads there is something you can do. In Internet Options - Security (tab) - Restricted Sites - Sites (button) add the following one at a time:

Then Close and Ok out of Internet Options. Then reboot your pc. When you go into paltalk you will see blue panels in place of the annoying adverts and popups with their noisy high bandwidth messages. Windows with adverts showing on the desktop are likely to become a problem even now so its best to move the advert part of the window below the desktop to prevent problems. The rest of the story on this is that you have not eliminated advertising from your black nicknamed paltalk experience. You must simply remember never to leave a profile or rooms list open for more than a few seconds because if you keep them open longer you will begin to see popups which signal that some agressive advertisers or worse are after your attention. It is best to simply pay for the colored nickname. Have fun.
