| Winch | |
After looking around I decided on the Ramsey ProPlus 9000 winch. I went with 150 feet
of cable since the tree's aren't usually very close here. I also got it with the roller
fairlead. This winch has already saved me as well as others.

| Winch recovery kit | |
Don't go out without this. Not only will you mess up your winch cable if you don't use the tree strap provided, but you will damage if not kill the tree. If we don't protect the enviroment we go 'wheeling in, they will close it off and where does that leave us. The leather gloves are also a saftey must. The snatch block allows for a double pull. Since getting stuck where I slid of the trail partways on an off camber
trail, I ended up buying another tree strap and snatch block. It was so off
camber that when we had my winch on the back and another winch cabled to my
front, when moving backwards the front tire lifted. I very likely would have
rolled if not for the cable hooked to my front bumper. Now with two tree
protector's and snatch block's I could have hooked on to both ends and done
the recovery with only 1 winch.

| Pull Pal ground anchor | |
I got this since trees are not always close enough or available around here.
The best winch is worthless without something to hook onto! The Pull-Pal gives me
a solid anchor almost anywhere. It also allows me to get the maximum pull from
my winch every time by allowing me to unspool your winch cable to the proper layer
that gives maximum pull. As the Pull-Pal web site says "You lose considerable
pulling power (up to 20% on some units) with each layer of cable left spooled. So
when you're really stuck, and you need all the power you can get from your winch,
YOU NEED Pull-Pal!"

| Tow Strap/Chain | |
|
Make sure you get the ones with the loops not hooks at the end. Not only are the
ones with the loops safer, hooks are not allowed in any 4 wheeling event I've read
about or gone to. I got a 20,000 lbs 20 foot long one. I had two, but a freind
needed one and I haven't replaced it yet. I also bought a heavy tow chain rated at
6,600 lbs. I bought a chain connector and two extra hooks so I could use the chain
as one 12 foot and 1 eight foot or one twenty foot chain.
